A Fun Few Months!

Lilly turned two!!!! We had a fun birthday party with about 40 of our friends! All her little buddies were there and we decorated sugar cookies and ornaments and ate lots of good food!

Fall and Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving we headed down to El Dorado Hills. On the Friday after Thanksgiving we continued our long standing tradition of heading up to Apple Hill with all our friends to hunt for Christmas trees. While my parents no longer put up a real tree, we still go up for cider and apple fritters! It was a beautiful day!

On Saturday we needed to get Lilly out of the house to burn some energy so Mom and I took her to the new bounce house in the Business Park. For a while it was just us, we had so much fun!

It was a fun-filled Halloween weekend! On Friday we visited Ryan at work and Lilly got to trick or treat in the cubicles. In the cafe they had lots of fun activities and we came home with balloons, play-doh and of course lots of candy!

On Saturday our neighbor had a Halloween party and the highlight was the bounce house. Lilly did a good job keeping up with the big kids.

And lastly, Lilly went trick or treating with her friend Addie. They both had the routine down after a few houses!

Fun Day at Seaside!

Today we spent the day at Seaside with Molly, Keith and Grady. We met them at Camp 18 along Highway 26 for breakfast and then made our way to Seaside. It was chillier than we planned, but still a lot of fun!

The carousel was pretty much a giant fail. Grady didn't want to be strapped in so didn't ride and Lilly cried the whole time. We will need to wait a few years before trying that again!

They did however, enjoy the arcade :)

Summer Fun

Several weeks ago we went to the Oregon zoo with Mom and Dad on a Sunday afternoon. When we went the weather was fine but by the end (about 2 hours later) it was absolutely pouring and we had to RUN to the car and we were all soaked! It was fun though and we managed to see everything before we had to make our escape!

I love these pictures of Lilly. She is getting so big!

There is a water park downtown that I have taken Lilly to a couple times. Ryan and I took her on one of the few warm afternoons we have had this summer. It was so crowded!

The water periodically comes out of these rocks so Lilly ran over there every time.

Church Camp

The week of 4th of July Ryan and I served at our church's 4th & 5th grade camp for the second time. We were much better prepared this year and things went much smoother! We were coaches so we didn't sleep in the cabins with the kids like counselors but we were with them practically every waking moment of the day. It was amazing to see these little hearts open up to the Lord and receive His words through us. I think we learned just as much from them as they did from us! We didn't have time to take a lot of pictures, but here are a few. (Oh, and Lilly had a great time with her Grammy and Grandad all week!).

New Pictures of Lilly

Just a few pictures of what Lilly has been up to. The sun came out for about two days (seriously, all we have had is rain, including today - Father's Day), so we got her a little pool. She won't actually go in it, but loves dumping water back and forth. I have to hide it from her view when we can't go outside or else she just stands at the slider banging the door to go out.

This morning I put some pigtails in Lilly. She wasn't very happy at first but eventually gave in and wore them to church. She looked so cute !

Quick Trip to SD and Disneyland

Last week we had a whirlwind trip to San Francisco for Ryan's awards banquet, Mother's Day in El Dorado Hills, a couple days in San Diego for Plato's Closet conferences, and a day at Disneyland. Unfortunately we didn't take too many pictures throughout the week, but here are a couple!

All rules were thrown out the window while Lilly and Ryan were hanging out in the hotel room in San Diego, so here she is eating not one, but two bananas in bed.

It has been a little while since we posted, so here are some new pictures of Lilly. She is almost 18 months old - can't believe it! She is learning every day and Ryan and I have fun watching her think and try to figure things out. Her favorite things to say now are "doggy" and "oh no!".

These are from our trip to Medford a couple weeks ago. We had lunch in Lithia Park and Lilly hoarded all the potatoe chips!

Lilly is such a big girl now she is using her spoon and fork to feed herself!

Our across the street neighbors have some cute little girls and they were so excited to give Lilly their car that they don't use anymore!

A couple times I got away with putting bows in Lilly's hair...

until she figured that out and it has now stopped :(

Yesterday we went the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn. We have never been before and I couldn't believe how there was row after row of tulips! Lilly had fun running around and touching them all!

We have been trying to teach her to touch things with one finger - I guess she is actually listening!

For our anniversary, my wonderful parents watched Lilly for the weekend while Ryan and I got some much needed alone time for a whole weekend in San Francisco! We did all the fun touristy stuff: Pier 39, Coit Tower, Ghirardelli Square, Ferry Building, Union Square, etc. Below are a few pictures from our trip:

February Happenings

Sorry for the delay since our last posting! I think about updating all the time, but my days get away from me. February was a fun month. We spent Valentine's Day weekend up at Windtree with some good friends from church. They have a daughter a few months older than Lilly, so the girls had fun running around the house and tormenting Hurley!

While we were packing Lilly noticed her high chair was on the ground. She kept going over and sitting in it, so we decided that she needed a chair of her own (picture below).

Lilly is very much a busybody, always getting into everything. This is her sorting through the goods in the pantry at Windtree. She quickly found the margarita mix and walked around the house for a long time with it. Party girl at heart!
Her hair is (finally) getting fairly long and I put a chip clip in it as a joke. She had no idea and walked around the house with it in!

Lilly and Addie had fun eating all their meals together.

On a walk at the mountain. It was beautiful! This is the duck poncho/towel Uncle Timmy gave Lilly for Christmas. So cute! Lilly in her new chair! Unfortunately she is more fond of standing in it than sitting, so we are quickly trying to fix that issue!

Right after Labor Day, the 3 of us packed up and took a road trip up to Beautiful British Columbia. We were there for about 10 days and had a great time. Weather was beautiful and we did a lot of walking, hiking, sightseeing and shopping! Here are a few pictures from our trip.

So far we have given her rice cereal and some peas. Took a while to

get used to, but she seems to like it now!

Yesterday was my first Mother's Day and it couldn't have been more perfect! After church we went to a fun brunch downtown and then went on a hike through some beautiful neighborhoods, Forest Park and up to Pittock Mansion. Then we had iced tea and nutella crepes on NW 23rd!

It is amazing what works to get a crying baby to not only go silent but to smile. Just prior to this video clip Lilly was not very happy. We tried feeding, diaper changes, etc but nothing seemed to put her in a good mood until we turned on ABBA. Yes, Lilly has a thing for ABBA - specifically the Momma Mia song on the Momma Mia soundtrack. Watch her reaction... we get this every time we turn it on.

On a sunny BUT cold Sunday afternoon we loaded Lilly in the car and headed to downtown Portland. With Lilly bundled up in the stroller staying warm we walked along the waterfront and through the city streets. We stepped into a coffee shop to get warm and polished off the night strolling through the walls of children books at Powell's before calling it a day.
